We are now weeks behind the initial devastation that Hurricane Irma brought to the Caribbean Islands. Haiti was spared the brunt of the storm, but the ongoing hurricane activity has continued to wreak havoc in remote areas like Drouin, Haiti.
Elevating Christian Ministries is serving the community of Drouin by feeding more than 120 kids freshly baked whole wheat bread daily in the school last year. That comes with its challenges.
Life is hard in Drouin, and help has trouble finding this remote place.
Flooding persists through much of that region making it almost inaccessible. Though the school year started in early September most of the classes have been canceled due to the fact of standing water throughout the village.
Persistence is a way of life in Drouin, Haiti.
Many of the plans that we have made to support the village have had to be delayed. In fact, school is far behind having lost many of the school days in September. But we adapt, and we persist.
This week plans are back on track and is school is starting back up. In the true spirit of Haiti and with the Hope of Christ that drives us, we continue to move forward!
